The paper presents a study on the thermal vibration of a single-walled carbon nanotube embedded in an elastic medium by using Euler beam model of continuum mechanics with quantum effects taken into consideration when the law of energy equipartition is unreliable. The basic finding of the study is the relation, derived by using the Euler beam model, between the temperature and the Root-of-Mean-Squared (RMS) amplitude of thermal vibration at any cross section of the carbon nanotube which is embedded in an elastic medium.
