The CoⅡ(ttp)catalyzed carbon-carbon bond transfer hydrogenation of [2.2]paracyclophane(PCP)with DMF was achieved.Mechanistic investigation suggested that the benzylic carbon-carbon bond of PCP reacts with CoⅡ(ttp)to generate 1,subsequent homolysis of Co-C bond and hydrogen atom abstraction yield 2 and regenerate the CoⅡ(ttp)catalyst. The mechanism of cobalt porphyrin catalysis is distinctly different from the rhodium and iridium catalyses.
