The strain rate sensitivity of helium plasma treated nano silicon dioxide particles sol-gel coating UHMPE filaments (PTNSDPUHMPE) and simultaneous micro-structural evolution are investigated.The test results show that the materials are strain rate sensitive and the change in strain rate sensitivity index parameter with strain reflects the change in micro-mechanisms of deformation and modes of fracture.Deformation processes in PTNSDPUHMPE were predominantly characterized by craze-tearing and brittle mode of fracture.
