  We obtain the local electric field of the Kerr nonlinear materials as a function of the incident field based on the quasistatic approximation.By the finite element method (COMSOL Multiphysics),the relation between the local field and the incident field is established,and then the optical bistability (OB) can be obtained due to the nonlinear dielectric function of the structures,such as spheres,cylinders and slabs.
