Heidong cavern group, a large scale ancient underground quarry lying in Tiantai County, Zhejiang Province, China, is originally excavated in dynasty Sui.The lithodology in the excavated area is composed of cretaceous tuff.Among the cavern group, caverns No.1 and No.2 are adjacent and therefore form an 88m-wide double-arch within which the compartment wall occupies a width only 2.3% to 8.0% of the total, and this ultra-shallow buried double-arch has maintained millennium-long stability.
