Currently, it is widely recognized that many biologically interesting compounds are chiral, such as drugs,agrochemicals, food additives, and fragrances.A pair of enantiomers often exhibits different biological and pharmacological activities.Therefore, the separation of enantiomers is demanded urgently in the biological,pharmaceutical and pesticide industries.Direct chiral separation using chiral stationary phases (CSPs) for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has significantly evolved during the past few decades, and is one of the most reliable tools for both the analysis and separation of enantiomers.Among more than one hundred commercially available CSPs, polysaccharide-based CSPs have been recognized as the most powerful ones for the resolution of a wide range of racemates [1,2].However, the existing CSPs are obtained by heterogeneous process.It is difficult to control the synthesis process and chemical structure of the resultant polysaccharide derivatives.The study of structure-property relationships and chiral separation mechanism is limited.
