Background: The offspring of diabetic mothers often reveal high birth weight and are prone to have obesity, hypertension and dyslipidemia.It was implied that the phenotype of offspring might be influenced by intrauterine environment.The potential mechanism of glucose intolerance induced by intrauterine hyperglycemia is still under discussion.DNA methylation changes could participate in the gene expression related to glucose intolerance in the offspring of diabetic mother.We established a moderate hyperglycemia exposure rat model induced by streptozotocin to detect glucose and lipid metabolism and inflammation of the first generation offspring (F1) and the second generation offspring (F2).
