  Amylose content is one dominant factor determining starch properties and it is genetically controlled by the waxy genes (wx),which encode the granule-bounded starch synthase (GBSS) catalyzing the biosynthesis of amylose.There are usually three WX proteins in common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.),which are separately encoded by the wx-A1a,wx-B1a and wx-D1a genes.These three wx genes locate on the 7AS,4Al and 7DS chromosome arms,respectively.
