Levamisole (LMS) has been demonstrated as a potent adjuvant for DNA and killed viral vaccines from our previously studies.We attempted to determined if LMS formulated with HBV vaccine can enhance its cell mediated response.Compared to the vaccination of rHBsAg alone or with alum adjuvant or with LMS or combinations of both, LMS formulated with rHBsAg plus alum induced higher level of IgG2a and T cell proliferation, but lower level of IgG1 in mice.Furthermore, mice immunized with rHBsAg, alum and LMS as the adjuvants produced higher expression of IFN-γ, IL-2 and IL-4 compared to that with alum alone group.
