India is one of countries in which the species of dytiscoid and gyrinid beetles are most abundant in the world. A total of twenty dytiscoid species, five gyrinid and three noterid beetles are reported from India based on examination of specimens collected by the Japan-India Expedition in 1978 and deposited in the Hokkaido University Museum. The synonymy, locality data and distribution far each species arc provided.
