Water salinity is an important factor to affect gonadal development of Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis.Four salinity treatments (0‰,6‰,12‰ and 18‰) were designed to investigate the effects of water salinity on gonadal development, osmoregulation and physiological metabolism during gonadal development male of E.sinensis.The results showed that the gonadosomatic index (GSI) increased significantly with increasing water salinity (P<0.05).The osmolality and the concentrations of K+ and Mg2+ in serum increased significantly with elevating water salinity, which was higher than that of respective external water (P<0.05).
