Atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) was used in the polymerization process in the present work.A strong cation-exchange poly(vinyl ester resin co ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate) monolithic column for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) has been prepared firstly by ATRP without the expensive complexing ligand.The monolith was modified to bear strong-cation exchange groups and tested on the separation of human immune globulin (IgG) from human plasma in conjunction with HPLC (Fig.1B).Good resolution was obtained in a short time (10 min).Not only the resolution was better than our previous work (Fig.2) but also the dynamic binding capacity was much higher.
