Here, a system for automatic, continuous monitoring of atmospheric particulate matter was developed based on the β-attenuation method.It measures beam intensity attenuation after passing through blank filter paper and after passing through dust-treated filter paper, and so calculates the concentration of atmospheric particulate matter, PM2.5.The accuracy of the measurement and causes of errors in measurement were analyzed.The results of the developed system were found to be consistent with the results of gravimetric method.The developed instrument carry out observation during the meeting of APEC 2014.That experiment continue to do during fall and winter.Currently, monitoring fine particulate matter PM2.5 has become a hotspot in air pollution research.The developed instrument will play important role in air pollution.The data reported during the meeting of APEC 2014 give complete PM2.5 distribution near main conference centre.These data also gave detailed information during special events.
