Sweet potato(Ipomoea batatas L.)is the worlds seventh food crop and important feed and energy resource.Soil salinization severely suppress the growth and yield of sweet potato. Therefore,to cope with these global crises over food and energy supplies as well as environmental problems,it is urgently required to develop new crop varieties.Nevertheless,to date, the molecular mechanisms of sweet potato in response to salt stress still remain unclear. In this study, the high salt resistant cultivar Xu 22 and the salt sensitive cultivar Xu 32 were employed.11 salt responsive NAC genes, designated as IbNAC3-IbNAC13,were screened based on the RNA-seq data under salt stress from Xu 22 and Xu 32.These genes were characterized to encode NAC proteins that share high similarity with those known plant NACs,especially in the NAC domain.Phylogenetic analysis suggested that IbNAC4,IbNAC7 and IbNAC10 may belong to the stress-related NACs.
