Latent adult autoimmune diabetes (LADA) is so-called because it is diagnosed in adults but the autoimmune nature is latent until patients are tested for autoantibodies.In other words, the disease presents clinically as type 2 diabetes.Yet the term LADA is inclusive encompassing both adult-onset type 1 diabetes (T1DM) as well as LADA, and the evidence is that adultonset autoimmune diabetes is the most prevalent form of autoimmune diabetes.
