Misfolded proteins can lead to toxic aggregation in the cells, resulting in a list of human diseases,especially those originated from neurological disorders and systemic amyloidoses.In non-physiological environments, proteins are likely to lose their biofunctions permanently when exposed to some harsh conditions (e.g.high temperature), partially due to the lack of mechanisms that prevent misfolded/unfolded proteins from aggregation and help them refold correctly.
