The cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) films with broadband reflection property have great potential as reflective liquid crystal displays (LCDs),brightness-enhancing films of LCDs,mirrorless lasing and electrically switchable mirrors.The regulation of pitch gradient of CLCs is the most effective method to achieve broadband reflection films and has been extensively studied in recent years for both fundamental science and applications.In this talk,we will report some of our recent progresses on the regulation of pitch gradient of CLCs.
