In plants, the simple gaseous hormone ethylene influences a myriad of developmental processes and stress resistance responses.Extensive studies have been performed to unravel how plants senses the smell of ethylene. In the past two decades, a lot of components involved in ethylene response had been isolated.Among of them, EIN2, whose null mutant was completely insensitive to ethylene, was regarded as an essential central positive regulator. An important question in ethylene biology remaining to be answered is how ethylene promoted the ER-located EIN2 to induce the accumulation of master transcription factor EIN3/EIL 1 in in nucleus.
