Myelin sheath is an important structure to maintain neuronal signaling transduction, and the myelin is produced by oli-godendrocytes in the central nervous system (CNS).Many neurodegenerative diseases, including multiple sclerosis, are characterized by axonal degeneration and demyelination.Although a spontaneous remyelination is followed by demyelin-ation in the early stages of multiple sclerosis,it often fails in many cases.Current treatments for multiple sclerosis aim to modulate the inflammatory component, whereas recent studies have focused on potential therapies that enhance the remye-lination.Although the cultured cells and rodent models have been widely used in this demyelination/remyelination research field, there is still a lack of in vivo image data.In the past decade, the zebrafish became a valuable model for the study of axonal formation and myelination.
