  Objectives: To evaluate plasma and gingival crevicular fluid(GCF)levels of interleukin-1beta(IL-1β),C-reactive protein(CRP)and try to analyze the risk of periodontal disease in children and adolescents with diabetes mellitus.Methods: The study consists of 9 children with type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM),17 children with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and 21 nondiabetic children as control.Basic information such as gender,age,weight and height,and the level of hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)was recorded.The periodontal indexes include probing depth(PD),modified bleeding index(mBI)and plaque index(PLI).GCF and intravenous blood samples were collected and CRP and IL-1β levels were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The data was analyzed by SPSS software.Differences in measurement data were compared with analysis of variance.Rank-Sum test was used for nonparametric tests.
