This work is an experimental study on solid solution strengthening of aluminium alloys.Flow behaviour of high-purity Al-Mg and Al-Si binary alloys is characterised and compared to that of a base material (99.99% pure Al).Uniaxial compression tests have been carried out in a quenching and deformation dilatometer allowing precise heat treatments prior to mechanical testing.Samples were solution treated and quenched to various temperatures coveting the range from room temperature up to 500℃.
