The prefrontal cortex(PFC)critical for cognition is implicated in neuropsychiatric diseases such as cognitive deficit,depression and schizophrenia.The voltage-activated Kv7/KCNQ/M-channel or M-current modulates neuronal excitability that defines the fundamental mechanism of the brain function.However,whether the M-current functions to regulate the excitability of PFC remains elusive.In this presentation,I will present the recodings of native M-current in brain slices that modulates intrinsic excitability and synaptic responses of PFC pyramidal neurons.
