At nanoscale, surface and interface have significant effects on the physical and mechanical properties of solids, due to the increasing ratio of surface/interface area to volume.Diffraction of horizontal shear waves (SH-wave) around a nanosized cylindrical hole in a half-plane is presented in this paper (Fig.1).The surface elasticity theory is adopted to account for surface effects at nanoscale.Using the displacement potential and wave functions expansion methods, the elastic fields around the hole induced by incident SH-wave are studied analytically.
