Background: The loss of estrogen at menopause causes the increasing bone-resorbing activity of osteoclasts to outpace the bone-forming activity of osteoblasts, always leading to the occurrence of postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP).Recently the Ephrin/Eph family of receptor tyrosine kinases has been shown to play an important role in regulating bone homeostasis. However the function of Ephrin/Eph in estrogendeficient osteoporosis has not been mentioned.
