Omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω3 PUFAs) such as docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) are recognized as agonists of free fatty acid receptor 4 (FFAR4)and can suppress inflammation. The anti-inflammatory effects of ω3 PUFAs and the potential roles of FFAR4 in vivo were investigated. The polyunsaturated fatty acid profiles of total lipids extracted from tail tissues were quantitated by gas chromatography-flame ionization detection.
