Oxygen reduction reaction on sputtered Pt film supported on carbon cloth supported on porous PTFE GDE at different temperatures was investigated with a novel thermostatted cell with gas diffusion electrode (GDE).Studies on the reaction kinetics of oxygen under high mass transport by directly supplying the oxygen to the three phase boundaries through the pores of the GDEs.The cell temperature was controlled by circulating water through the glass jacket around the cell body.In contrast to results from RRDE or flow cell with dissolved O2 as reactant (whose solubility drops with temperature increase and mass diffusion limited current drops at T>40℃),Oxygen reduction reaction with the present setup we observe: i) A monotonically increase in ORR current with decreasing in electrode potential down to 0.2 V; ii) A clear increase in the ORR current with temperature from 5 to 70℃.The apparent activation energy for ORR is found to increase with the electrode potential,it is 30 and 41 kJ/mol at 0.75 and 0.9 V,respectively. The kinetic studies of oxygen reduction reaction with such a setup is discussed.
