  Drought stress has become a serious environmental problem that influences plant growth and fruits production of watermelon worldwide, especially in the arid and semi-arid regions of northwest China.Previous studies proposed that arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) colonization could improve the water relations of host plants, promoting plant nutrient acquisition and antioxidant capacity, consequently enhancing their drought tolerance.
