Vibration-based nondestructive damage detection in plates relying on mode shapes has been investigated by various methods,among which the 2D curvature mode shape(CMS2D)is an attractive damage feature of increasing interest.Unlike the general understanding of the use of the 1D curvature mode shape(CMS1D)for detecting damage in beams,use of the CMS2D to detect damage in plates is not yet well elucidated.
