  Superconducting nanowire single photon detectors (SNSPDs) perform well in single photon detections.For example,the detection efficiency (DE) is up to 90%,the dark count rate (DCR) is typically less than 100 cps at a relative high DE,the response spectrum can span from visible light to infrared,and the timing jitter is usually less than 50 ps.As a result of these attributes,SNSPDs are utilized in many fields where efficient,fast and precise detections are required,such as quantum key distributions (QKDs),deep-space laser communications,and fiber optical time-domain reflectometries (OTDRs) and so on.In this talk,we designed and fabricated high performance SNSPDs with an efficiency (>70%@1550nm) and low dark count rate (<100 cps) successfully.Furthermore,the developed SNSPDs were applied in QKD,OTDR and laser raging.
