Juvenile hormone(JH)is known to control insect development, metamorphosis and reproduction, but the molecular mechanisms of JH regulation in insect reproduction remain unclear. The migratory locust,Locusta migratoria is an ideal system to elucidate JH-dependent insect reproduction,as JH controls locust vitellogenin(Vg)synthesis in the fat body, secretion into the hemolymph and uptake by the developing oocytes.
