In heavy ion fusion (HIF),longitudinal pulse compression is a key issue for an effective implosion process of a fuel target pellet.Heavy ions extracted from ion sources are accelerated using a particle accelerator complex.Although several types of the accelerator systems were proposed [1],the extreme pulse compression is needed in the final stage of HIF driver with either approach.A large particle accelerator is required to generate an intense heavy ion beam, such as the total length of several km in the case of a linear accelerator. It is not suitable for the investigation of beam dynamics from the viewpoint of cost. For this reason, experimental devices using electron beams were proposed for a scaled simulator [2,3].It is easy to achieve the required space-charge-dominated state in a small experimental device with electron.
