Compared with traditional hydraulic filed test, geophysical approaches based on electrical properties for hydraulic parameter estimation attracts growing attentions. In order to characterize the relationship between electrical and hydraulic properties, laboratory experiments have been conducted on Jumoonjin standard sand in both saturated and unsaturated states. For saturated states, standard samples have been classified in to group A and B according to total grain size and effective gain size respectively.Tests of hydraulic conductivity, electrical resistivity and induced polarization have been implemented on standard sand samples with a 160 mm high cylinder-chamber device of 100 mm inner diameter. The results show that the hydraulic conductivity is exponentially proportional to the formation factor of group A while inversely exponentially proportional to that of group B, while hydraulic conductivity is inversely exponentially proportional to chargeability of both group A and B.For unsaturated states, tests mentioned above uponstandard sand based on classification of soils for engineering purposes along with moisture content test have been fulfilled viaa cuboid tank withsquare cross section of 750 mm × 750 mm and length of 1 000 mm.Using evaporative drying, moisture content influence of unsaturated sand samples on representative electrical and hydraulic properties and the relationship between them has been revealed.Influence of laboratory experiment volume scale on certain tests' results has been observed simultaneously.
