Object:To investigate the interventional effect of 6-month Tai Ji Quan exercise on simple obesity of females. Methods: 70 female adults with simple obesity were randomly divided into the experimental group or the control group.During the 6-month trial, the subjects of the experimental group took part in Tai Ji Quan exercise, while those of the control group took part in walking exercise. Before and after the trial,we respectively measured their body weight, body mass index, obesity degree, percentage of fat, waist circumference, hip circumference, and waist/hip ratio. Results: After the 6-month trial, the total effective rate of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).In both groups, body weight, body mass index, waist circumference, hip circumference,waist/hip ratio, and percentage of fat all significantly decreased compared with those at the beginning(P<0.05).As for decreasing the above indexes, except hip circumference, the experimental group produced obviously better effect than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion: Long-term and proper Tai Ji Quan exercise produced positive effect on simple obesity of females, and is a safe and effective sport interventional method.
