A study on variation characteristics and flowering phenophase of monoecious pistacia

  Pistacia is the pioneer tree species of afforestation,which is of very high ornamental,timber and medicinal value,is also the premier biofuels tree species in the north of China now,makes its road development prospects.At present,we need to configure the pollination tree because of its dioecious characteristics,and there is a great limit for its development due to the lack of improved varieties and low production.We found rarely monoecious resources in Tang County Hebei Province(China),which will be a breakthrough for its development bottleneck.The variation characteristics and flowering phenophase of the local pistacia were recorded with text,data and images,by the methods of germplasm resources survey,telephone and visit.Results show that:(1)All the eight phenotypic investigate factors can be integrated into three principal components,branches growing,inflorescence characteristics and branches type,totally represent 82.79%of the overall character;(2)the branches of different gender types,ordered by inflorescence length : normal female > female on monoecious pistacia >bisexual flowers > inflorescence with male and female> male on monoecious pistacia >normal male; inflorescence width: normal female > bisexual flower > female on monoecious pistacia > inflorescence with male and female > male on monoecious pistacia>normal male,among them,bisexual flower inflorescence is significantly greater than the male,providing the basis to judge gender type without destructive sampling ;(3)there are many variation characteristics on monoecious pistacia,flowering phenophase changes a lot between different germplasm,what can stretch the flowering and improve the effect of pollination in group.
