IκBa is a member of the primary regulators of NF-κB, which can inhibit NF-κB activity by blocking the NF-κB in an inactive state in the cytoplasm.In this study, two types of IκBα homolog, EcIκBα1 and EcIκBα2, were cloned and characterized from orange-spotted grouper,Epinephelus coioides.The complete length of EcIκBα1 cDNA is 1629 bp and encodes a putative protein of 318 amino acids sharing 85% identity to IκBα of Takifugu rubripes, while the full length of EcIκdα2 cDNA is 1441 bp, which encodes a protein of 308 residues with 89% identity to IκBα of Siniperca chuatsi.
