  The importance and research progress in the estimation of sea-air fluxes of CO2 using remote sensing data in the recent years have been reviewed in this paper.Carbon flux estimation was based on the empirical relationships derived from sea surface CO2 partial pressure (pCO2) and relative controlling factors such as sea surface temperature,chlorophyll-a,sea-air gas exchange coefficient and so on.pCO2 fields were then created by remotely sensed data via optimum interpolations and compared with in situ data.Different types of satellite data and estimate methods adopted in different regions were discussed with regard to the temporal and special distributions of pCO2 and the controls respectively.Problems in this field and its developing tendency were proposed as well.
