Rare-earth cobaltates(RCoO3)have been extensively investigated and results show that cobalt ions with six d electrons in a octahedral coordination can be in a low-spin(LS:),intermediate-spin(IS:),and highspin(HS:)depending on the temperature.Perovskite type cobaltate,PrCo1-xFexCoO3(0 ≤ x ≤ 1)have been studied intensively because of their wide range of unique physical properties. As these compounds are predominantly ionic in nature hence the lattice contributions to the specific heat at constant volume(Cv(lattice))of pure and Fe doped PrCoO3 has been studied and thereby thermal expansion is computed as function of temperature by means of Modified Rigid Ion Model(MRIM).
