INTRODUCTION Water pollution has become one of serious environmental concerns since heavy metals are widely used in many industrial fields and discharged in industrial effluents.Heavy metals tend to accumulate in the aquatic and terrestrial environments and eventually enter the food chains.Over the years a variety of techniques have been developed to remove toxic heavy metals in industrial wastewater,such as chemical precipitation,carbon adsorption,ion exchange,membrane filtration,reverse osmosis and biosorption.
