Background CX3CR1/CX3CL1 axis is involved in metastasis and prognosis of many cancer diseases, however, whether CX3CR1 expressed on gastric cancer cells and participated in gastric cancer metastasis are remain unknown.Methods We investigated the expression of CX3CR1 on gastric.cancer tissues, non-neoplastic gastric tissues, gastric cancer cell lines and gastric epithelial cell lines in order to clarify the expression level of CX3CR1 both in vivo and in vitro.Additionally, we analyzed the relationship between the expression level of CX3CR1 and the clinicopathologic characteristics of gastric cancer, and further explored the roles of CX3CR1 in cellular metastasis, proliferation and survival through CX3CR1 overexpression and knockdown cell lines which were obtained by gene transfection.
