The objective of the Extreme Light Infrastructure European project (ELI) consists in providing to the worldwide scientific community a unique laser based facility allowing them to investigate an unexplored domain of laser-matter interaction at 1025W/cm2 and higher intensity level.ELI will produce ultra intense and ultra short sources of particles (electrons, protons,..), attosecond pulses, coherent and high energetic X rays opening the path to exotic physics (pair creation, etc...) ELI is identified as a supported new large scale European Infrastructure through the road map of the European Strategic Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI).
