We found systemically infected plants of Galium aparine L.[=Galium spurium L.var.echinospermon (Nallr.) Hayek] in the riparian vegetation along the Tone River and along Sugao Marsh, Ibaraki, Central Honshu, Japan.All leaves of the infected plants had spermogonia (type 4) and aecia (aecidium type).
