Purpose:To explore the clinical management and outcomes among institutionalized veterans who initially presented as geriatric syndrome (GS) and non-geriatric syndrome (NGS) in emergencydepartment(ED).Methods:A retrospective chart review of Banciao Veterans Home residents who visited the ED of Taipei Veterans General Hospital was done.Demographic data,presenting symptoms,management and treatment in ED and clinical outcomes were carefully recorded.The prevalence of GS was obtained accordingly.Serial comparisons including clinical outcome were made between subjects with GS and NGS.
