The microbiologically influenced corrosion was investigated in the early failed copper pipes by pitting used in underground water.The bacteria were cultured by sampling from corrosion product near pits,where four bacteria were found,i.e.,Micrococcus luteus sp.,Staphylococcus sp.,Sphingomonas sp.,and Bacillus sp..Toxicity test were performed to find the minimum concentration of cupric ion for growing in the environment.The tested concentration range of cupric ion were from 1mM to 100mM.Micrococcus and Bacillus species among the four species of microorganism showed good growth in cupric ion environment.
