Coal is a material with lower H/C atom ratio (about 0. 8), but liquid fuel is a product with higher H/C atom ratio (about 2. 0). Therefore, coal to liquid fuels is a hydrogen adding and carbon rejecting process. The process involves several important reactions such as coal gasification, water-gas-shift (WGS) and Fischer-Tropsch (FT) synthesis, and couples with lots of energy conversion.
