Along with its rapid economic development,East China has experienced severe deterioration in air pollution since this century. This pollution has raised strong concerns in the country as well as in downwind foreign countries(concerning atmospheric transport). However, the extent of this pollution and its quantitative association with anthropogenic activities is still not well understood, due in part to inadequacies in the spatial and temporal coverage of in-situ measurements.Multiple satellite instruments provide valuable information of this pollution with relatively high spatiotemporal coverage, allowing for a detailed analysis of pollution over East China and its anthropogenic origins.
