Understanding physics of the isotope effect (the particle confinement depends on its mass) is one of the fundamental open questions confronting the fusion community.According to intuitively physical point of view,larger massive particles would be bound worse under the same magnetic confinement conditions,because its larger gyro-radius (the larger step size of collision transport) would result in more loss of cross-field transport.
