Lipophilicity is an essential and important property of molecule, and the logarithm of partition coefficient between octanol and water, logPow, is the most commonly used for a lipophilicity scale so far.Microemulsion electrokinetic chromatography (MEEKC) has been used as a powerful method for indirect measuring logPow of various kinds of compounds since 1991 [1].In order to obtain an accurate logPow value, the migration time of the solute (tm) and of the microemulsion phase (tme) in MEEKC must be accurately required, because the tm and tme are important parameters in measuring logPow.However, in our studies on conventional MEEKC, the influence of concentrations, injection volumes of compounds and high electric-field on their migration behavior were found, and the tracing method to obtain tme also had its shortage, which may bring some problems when determining the logPow values.Therefore, an improved MEEKC is expected to be established to ensure the accuracy of tm and tme, in order to obtain more accurate logPow values.
