Using RuCl3·3H2O,H2O,CH3COOH,CH3CH2OH,NH4PF6 and 2,2-bipyridine as starting materials,[Ru2(μ-O)(μ-CH3COO)2(2,2-bipyridine)2L2](PF6)2 was synthesized by one-pot method.Its structure was characterized by 1H NMR,IR,MS and elemental analysis.Electronic absorption spectra and redox property were investigated by UV-vis and CV,respectively.The complex show a strong visible absorption band around 600 nm and the maximum absorption wavelength was affected slightly by the monodentate ligand L.The complex [Ru2(μ-O)(μ-CH3COO)2(2,2-bipyridine)2(CH3CN)2](PF6)2 in acetonitrile show a quasi-reversible Ru2(Ⅲ,Ⅲ)/Ru2(Ⅲ,Ⅳ) redox wave around +1.388 to +1.049V versus Ag/AgCl and an irreversible Ru2(Ⅱ,Ⅲ)/Ru2(Ⅲ,Ⅲ) wave around +0.087 to-0.420V.The complex can be utilized to sensitize TiO2 in decomposing methyl orange under visible light.
