Phase separation is becoming an effective tool to understand the intracellular phenomena in recent years.Considering that biomolecules are essentially polyelectrolytes,we use statistical mechanics of polymers,through constructing simple model systems,to investigate phase separations of polyelectrolyte systems.In Gaussian field theory level,the RPA theory of response function is utilized to study finite size effect,chain rigidity effect,and counterion condensation effect for polyelectrolyte solutions.The results show that polyelectrolyte solutions manifest complex phase behaviors and set a convenient playground for studying statistical models including both Ising and Brazovskii universality classes.
