In 1998, Qingdao Twin Registry was initiated, as one core center of Chinese National Twin Registry.A total of 10655 twin pairs have been recorded until 2005.New twin cohorts have been recruited and new registry is launched over the past five years.One longitudinal cohort of adolescent twins has selected to explore determinants of metabolic disorders and health behaviors during the puberty and young adult.One wave of sampling for heritability study on multiple phenotypes associated with metabolic syndrome is established in adult twins.In addition, the elderly twin cohort focus on aging-related phenotypes and genome-wide association studies are conducted in Qingdao.Cross-culture collaborative studies have been carried out between China, Denmark, Finland and the US cohorts.The ongoing data collection and analyses for the Qingdao Twin Registry will be discussed in this article.
